Getting Unstuck
We all reach points in our life where we feel "stuck" and we don't know how to go forward. You might be depressed, caught in dysfunctional relationship patterns, overwhelmed by stress and anxiety, or struggling with some other difficult life experience. Or you may be noticing that old beliefs and ways of being are holding you back from reaching your potential, and yet you can't see where your next path of growth lies. Or you may simply be missing the extra support you need to understand what is happening in your life.
I will help you move through these difficult life experiences and towards the change you are seeking. I will bring my training, skills, and experience to support and guide you, and we will work together in a way that honors your unique experience of life.
Influences And Principles
I draw upon a variety of influences that shape how I work, including neuroscience, attachment and relational theory, somatic psychology, somatic-based trauma theory, Gestalt, transpersonal psychology, mindfulness practices, and Hakomi. As a Certified Hakomi Therapist, the Hakomi principles of mindfulness, non-violence, mind-body integration, unity, and organicity are foundational to all of my work.
A Healing Environment
The best possibility for healing and change occurs when we feel safe and supported. Within a relationship of acceptance and respect, we will work together to create a safe and supportive environment, a place where you can be yourself as you explore and work through the challenge you are dealing with. Additionally, healing and change require us to go beyond our comfort zone, going into our difficult experiences and leaning into our unfamiliar growth edges. I will compassionately support you in this process, gently bringing you to your edges and helping you to grow through and beyond your past difficulties and limitations.
Working With Your Experience
Including Your Somatic Experience
Our thoughts and ideas are in relationship and interwoven with our felt-sense experience of our bodies – our somatic experience. It is often our habitual somatic experience – a feeling of tightness, buzzing anxiety, the impulse to fight or flee, an inability to move or speak, a sense of collapse or dissociation, etc. – that keeps us stuck in our old patterns and limitations. By including your feelings and body experience in our work, we have the opportunity to shift these habitual somatic experiences, as well as the larger issues they are connected to, at a deep body level.
Staying In The Present
Including your somatic experience will help keep our work in the present moment, so that the ideas and issues we work with are the actual living experience and meaning that are influencing your life. We will also use mindfulness as a way to pay closer attention to your present moment experience – your immediate thoughts, feelings, and body sensations. Our focus will not simply be on the particular issue or past event you are bringing, but on how that issue or past "lives" in you now and continues to affect your present experience of life.
Uncovering Your Core Beliefs
As we work with your present moment experience, we may also discover your deeper and more unconscious beliefs about yourself and the world, your "core beliefs". Working with your core beliefs, we have the opportunity to change not just your experience of one particular issue, but also your overall experience of how you live in and relate to the world.
Valuing Spirituality And Higher Meaning
I will support the inclusion of your spirituality and higher meaning in the work we do. Whether a specific religious path, a general spiritual orientation, or a personal understanding of higher values, our experience of spirituality and higher meaning is an integral part of our life and is a valuable resource and catalyst for healing and change.
Having More Of Yourself
By including more of your experience – your thoughts and ideas, feelings and body experience, core beliefs, and spirituality and higher meaning – we create the best opportunity for greater integration and wholeness to emerge in your life.

We will use mindfulness both as a way to stay more deeply with your present moment experience and as a way to notice the habitual and automatic patterns that keep you stuck and prevent you from moving forward. By staying curious about what is actually happening in your immediate experience, we can find your own organic paths to healing and growth. We will work experientially by "trying on" different ways of relating to your present moment experience of the issue, so that you can actually have new experiences – new insights and beliefs, new feelings and body experiences – and thus a different relationship with yourself and the issue. I will help you integrate these new experiences and bring them into your world, so you can move forward again in your life.
